This creamy homemade chocolate hazelnut spread is a healthier twist on classic Nutella and a true kids’ favourite (and adults’!). Naturally sweetened and made with just a few simple ingredients, it’s perfect on toast, pancakes, waffles, or straight from the spoon.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Makes: 1 small jar

Ingredients:

  • 250 g organic hazelnut mousse (100% hazelnut butter)

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • ¼ cup organic cocoa powder

  • ⅓ cup maple syrup

  • ½ cup milk of your choice (unsweetened almond milk, oat milk, or similar)

Instructions:

  • Sterilise a glass jar by filling it with boiling water and letting it sit for about 5 minutes, then carefully pour out the water and let the jar air-dry completely.

  • Add hazelnut mousse, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and milk to a bowl or blender.

  • Mix or blend until the mixture is silky smooth and spreadable, scraping down the sides as needed.

  • Taste and adjust: add a little more maple syrup for extra sweetness or a bit more cocoa for a deeper chocolate flavour.

  • Pour the spread into the sterilised jar, seal well, and place it in the fridge.

Pro Tip:

  • Store the spread in the fridge and enjoy within 5–7 days for the best taste and freshness.

  • Serve it on warm toast, with apple slices, over pancakes, or swirled into yogurt for a quick, kid-approved snack.
